The Clark lab celebrated the graduation of our first graduate student, Steven. Dr. Shaw graduated Spring 2026.
You can read the results of his years of hard work in "Type I interferon signaling in hematopoietic cells impairs neutrophil antibacterial function in the middle ear during viral co-infection" in Cell Reports Medicine. PMID: 42235516
Dr. Shaw is now working as a Post-Doctoral Researcher in the lab of Fabienne Gally at National Jewish Health, Colorado.
Former Clark Lab member Maksym Goryachok also graduated from medical school. He matched in the Internal Medicine Residency program at Stanford, CA.

The Clark Lab attended the Colorado Immunology and Microbiology Conference 2025 in Steamboat Springs Colorado and had a great time! Dr. Sara Stoner won the AAI young investigator award for her poster!

Clark Lab in the News: This Spring 2025 long-time undergraduate researcher Arianna McCarty presented the work that she has done with the Clark lab as a part of her senior thesis project in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering. Arianna and Dr. Clark were interviewed by The Boettcher Foundation about their collaboration, the article can be found here.
This summer we will be sad to say goodbye to our PRA Emily as she begins her PhD in Microbiology and Immunology at Stanford University this fall! She has additionally been awarded a Stanford Graduate Fellowship, a university-wide award supporting exceptional PhD students across disciplines. She will be dearly missed, but we are so excited to follow along as she begins her graduate school journey!
The 2024 Colorado Immunology and Microbiology Conference was held in Breckenridge! During breaks we had a great time hiking and dressing up for the 90's-themed dinner.

As the Clark Lab enters the summer of 2024, we are so excited to announce that not one, not two, but three of our members will be transitioning into new scholastic endeavors here at the CU School of Medicine! Laboratory science professional Sam will remain in the lab to join the Microbiology graduate program, post-baccalaureate scholar Zoe will be starting on an M.D./Ph.D. tract, and research assistant Brian will begin his M.D. We could not be more proud of our Clark Lab Crew and can't wait to see where the next year takes them.
